Tips for Traveling with Invisalign
Invisalign is a popular treatment thanks to the convenience it
affords patients – but to ensure your Invisalign treatment is a success, it’s still important to prepare and be diligent about caring for your teeth and Invisalign. This is doubly true when traveling. It’s much easier to accidentally set down and lose your aligners or skimp on oral hygiene when you’re traveling, potentially causing major problems with treatment. At Carvalho & Roth Orthodontics, we’re proud to provide Invisalign to patients throughout the greater Marlborough area – and these are our top tips for traveling with Invisalign.
Keep It All In One Place
One of the best strategies for traveling with Invisalign is to make an “oral care kit” with everything you need to care for your teeth. Your kit should include things like floss, travel-sized toothpaste, a toothbrush, your Invisalign case, chewies, denture cleaning tablets, and anything else you might need for oral care. Keeping everything in a small, easy-to-carry bag will help you make sure you have the supplies you need when you need them.
Clean After Every Meal
No matter how small, it’s critical to brush your teeth and aligners every time after eating. Even for snacks or dark liquids like coffee, brushing and flossing is critical to ensure you don’t develop dental decay that can throw off your treatment.
Take Your Previous Set of Aligners With You
Ideally, you should always put your aligners in the case so you never lose them – but on the chance they do get lost, having a backup is crucial. That’s why we recommend always traveling with your previous set of aligners. This way, if you lose your current set, you can revert to your old pair while we fabricate a new set of aligners for you and you won’t run the risk of derailing your treatment.
