Where digital scans are used

  • Your first visit: Digital scans and photos of your smile
  • Planning Invisalign: Invisalign uses advanced 3D computer-imaging technology to map out the complete treatment plan, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position.
  • Invisalign Teen: Using this advanced imaging technology, we create a precise 3D model of your teen’s teeth, allowing us to design a detailed, step-by-step treatment plan.
  • Retainers: Retainers are made from digital scans or impressions of your teeth at the end of treatment.
  • Jaw surgery planning: We use digital scans, 3D modeling, and simulation tools to map out your treatment.

When an impression is still used

If a palate expander is recommended, impressions of your teeth are taken to create a custom-fit device.

Which records your treatment needs is your orthodontist’s call. This may include X-rays or digital imaging to get a complete picture of your orthodontic needs.
