Preparing For Back-To-School Season

With the end of the summer on your radar already, we get that you probably have an endless list of things to keep track of already. To make this transition a bit easier for you, we have created a list of go-to braces-friendly lunch ideas for you to pack a lunch for your children:

  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich: A peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a classic lunch to pack your children, and it’s both easy to make and widely enjoyed by children. Try out an organic and creamy peanut butter for the healthiest and easiest to chew option, and soft bread of course! The peanut butter will give your child protein, and try grain-filled bread for optimal health benefits.
  • Yogurt with Flaky Cereal: Granola can be dangerous because it is generally harder to chew and easily gets stuck in teeth. Flaky or soft cereal, on the other hand, is recommended and very tasty accompanied by a good yogurt! Greek yogurt specifically is packed with protein, and also works to satisfy a sweet tooth.
  • Cold Pasta or Pasta Salad: Fill a thermos with pasta or pasta salad, accompanied by tender meat or tofu. If you decide to pack a meat-filled lunch, just ensure that the meat isn’t too chewy, since this can be menacing for those of us with braces. These dishes work well to fill up and fuel your child throughout the day.
  • Salads: If your child is a rare veggie fan, salads with cooked or thinly sliced vegetables are great lunch options. They are packed with nutrients, and as long as everything in the salad is soft enough for those with braces to handle, it’ll cause no problems for your child.
  • Ground Meat in A Soft Roll or with Rice: Ground meat in a soft, “sloppy joe,” style meal is a fun lunch option that is filling and packed with protein. You can also substitute the bun with rice, couscous, or quinoa for a healthier alternative, and season the dish to your child’s liking!
  • Cottage Cheese with Fruit: Pairing cottage cheese with fruit is a great sweet and salty snack that can be easily paired with many other braces-friendly foods to make a great lunch!
  • Extra Lunch Box Stuffers: String cheese, pudding, smoothies, and milkshakes are all very braces-friendly, and can be easily added to top-off the lunch box.
