Clear Braces

Clear Braces

Maybe you like the concept of braces, but you just feel like the look that traditional metal braces offer is unpleasant. If this is you, then your orthodontist in Marlborough, Northborough, and Newton Centre has just the solution for you – clear braces! Like all of our other services here at Carvalho & Roth Orthodontics, you’ll receive the same compassionate and high-quality orthodontic care as you would with traditional braces. We hope you’ll consider this great treatment!

About Our Clear Braces

Our clear braces use the same proven and time-tested mechanism that metal braces utilize in order to gradually move your teeth toward their more proper positioning. However, the major difference between the two types of braces is that the stainless steel that’s used in the brackets of traditional braces is now replaced with a translucent material. This material will blend in perfectly with your teeth, giving you a much more discreet orthodontic treatment. In fact, most others will hardly even notice that you’re wearing braces unless they’re really close. It’s a terrific treatment for those who want to keep up a professional appearance while still undergoing the orthodontic treatment that they desire.

Caring for Your Clear Braces

For your clear braces treatment to work, it’s absolutely vital to maintain a dedicated brushing and flossing routine. While keeping your teeth clean is always important, you’ll also need to clean the food that gets trapped in your braces as there are many crevices where food particles can get stuck. If they aren’t cleaned away, these food particles will turn into plaque and then damage your teeth and cause tooth decay. Make sure to remember to brush after every meal and floss daily as well. Additionally, we recommend using mouthwash to help protect your teeth.

It’s also important for us to mention that while the ceramic brackets of clear braces won’t stain, the clear elastic ties that hold the archwire in place can be susceptible to it. To avoid this staining, we also suggest limiting (or even eliminating) your consumption of dark liquids, such as cola and coffee. While we always recommend that our patients avoid eating hard foods (which can break the brackets or wires) and sticky foods (which can pull the brackets off), it’s even more important to do so when wearing clear braces as these brackets are more fragile than their metal counterparts.
