About the Doctors

Sal C. Zammitti, DMD, MMSc

Dr. Sal Zammitti

Dr. Zammitti possesses the highest qualifications and a wealth of valuable experience and excellence. Dr. Zammitti graduated from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine with a residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. In addition, he received a Master of Medical Science degree in Oral Biology granted by the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Before attending dental school, Dr. Zammitti earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University.

His professional memberships include the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists and the Massachusetts Dental Society.

Dr. Zammitti has developed additional skills and experience in clinical care and staff and patient relations. He has extensive continuing education, including studies at the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation of Orthodontics and Advanced Edgewise Mechanics in Tucson, Arizona Peter E. Dawson Occlusion and TMD Seminars. He has published a number of articles in dental journals, and has a special interest in facial aesthetics.

Beyond having exceptional credentials, Dr. Zammitti is warm and caring and relates well to people of all ages. He is also fluent in Italian. Dr. Zammitti currently resides in Hopkinton, MA with his wife, Lisa, and three children, Jessica, Melissa and Mitchell. Dr. Zammitti enjoys family activities, ice hockey and striped bass fishing.


Roberto S. Carvalho, DMD, PhD

Dr. Robert CarvalhoDr. Carvalho graduated from Harvard School of Dental Medicine with a residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in conjunction with post-doctoral training in Orthopedics at the Children’s Hospital in Boston. In addition, Dr. Carvalho has a Masters of Science degree in Craniofacial Growth and Development and a PhD degree in Oral Biology, both from the University of Manitoba in Canada and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Boston University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Carvalho has been involved in academia and has dedicated time to research and teaching. He has published and lectured in North America and overseas and has received several awards. In particular, Dr. Carvalho is the recipient of the Milo Hellman Award, one of the most prestigious awards given by the American Association of Orthodontists and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and the Coenraad F.A. Moorrees Award given by the Harvard Society for Advancement of Orthodontics. Currently, Dr. Carvalho plans to continue teaching and conducting research on a limited basis as an Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at the Goldman School of Dental Medicine and also as an Assistant Research Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the School of Medicine, both at Boston University.

Dr. Carvalho and his wife, Elsa, have three young children, twins Felipe and Isabela, and Flavia. Dr. Carvalho has a solid character, is warm and caring and relates well to people of all ages. He is also fluent in Portuguese and has a commanding knowledge of French and Spanish. Together with his family, he likes a variety of activities such as traveling, golf, running, reading, but most of all Dr. Carvalho enjoys spending time with his wife and kids.
